A stunning value that punches far above its weight class, the Durigutti Malbec Clásico is a masterclass in Luján de Cuyo typicity. In the glass, it displays a saturated, opaque purple-black hue that hints at the concentration within.
The nose is an explosive bouquet of crushed blackberries, crème de cassis, and wild violets, underpinned by subtle notes of licorice, espresso roast, and damp earth. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, multi-dimensional effort with a massive core of blue and black fruits. The texture is remarkably supple, featuring those signature ‘velvet-paw’ tannins that lead into a long, spice-tinged finish.
While approachable now due to its purity of fruit, this Malbec has the structural integrity to evolve gracefully over the next 5 to 7 years. A tour de force of winemaking from the Durigutti brothers that belongs in any serious cellar as a daily drinker.
