Significant name in Chablis, Domaine Courtault-Michelet represents a compelling blend of tradition and modernity in the Burgundy region. The estate emerged from the merger of two families deeply rooted in winemaking—Alain and Lise Courtault, who founded Domaine Courtault in 1984, and Stéphanie Michelet, their daughter, and Vincent Michelet, her husband, who brought new perspectives and methodologies from his experience in the Loire Valley.​

Situated on the iconic Kimmeridgian limestone soils of Chablis, the estate’s vineyards span 20 hectares, covering Petit Chablis, Chablis, and Chablis Premier Cru appellations. The Kimmeridgian soil is crucial to the estate’s wine profile, composed of marlstone and fossilized oyster shells, which impart a distinctive minerality and tension to the wines, a hallmark of Chablis terroir. The estate’s philosophy is deeply entrenched in the principle of “terroir first,” aiming to produce wines that are the truest expression of their unique environment.​
