Founded in 1637, Gekkeikan is the oldest sake brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto.In the Meiji era (1868-1912), Gekkeikan established the first research institute for sake brewers, introduced science and technology to sake brewing, brought innovation to brewing technology, and expanded its business.Today, under the corporate concept of “Aiming for Health, Sake Science, and Creating Pleasure”, Gekkeikan produces high-quality sake in all genres, from high-end to popular, and exports sake not only domestically but also internationally, thereby expanding the sake culture globally.
