LIOCO Wines was born out of a shared desire to redefine Californian winemaking, tracing its origins to a conversation in an alley behind Spago Beverly Hills in the early 2000s. Founded in 2005 by Kevin O’Connor and Matt Licklider, the project sought a more nuanced, terroir‑driven expression of California fruit, inspired by the elegance of Europe’s great wines.

Today, LIOCO is owned and operated by Matt and Sara Licklider, who continue this pursuit from their facility in Santa Rosa, California. Rather than owning a single estate, LIOCO sources exceptional fruit from small, often organically farmed vineyards spanning hundreds of miles across Sonoma, Mendocino, and Santa Cruz counties. With a steadfast commitment to minimal intervention in the winery, wild fermentations, and meticulous care in the vineyard, the wines reflect the unique character of each site. From expressive Chardonnays to vibrant Pinot Noirs and rare varietals, LIOCO stands as a trailblazer in California’s new terroir‑focused movement — capturing distinct places with precision, balance, and authenticity.
