The Meurgey-Croses Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes is a highly expressive, organic, and biodynamically farmed white Burgundy crafted from 100% Chardonnay. Produced by fourth-generation Burgundian wine trader Pierre Meurgey, this cuvée showcases the tension and rich fruit concentration typical of old-vine Mâconnais viticulture.
On the nose, the 2022 vintage displays an elegant, tightly wound bouquet of mineral-driven white fruits, earthy Gala apple, and Anjou pear, seamlessly layered with subtle notes of field grass, baby’s breath, and a delicate touch of butter. The palate features a brief flash of tart fruit and racy, focused acidity that gives way to a dense, ripe fruit core. It rounds out into an intense, long, and juicy finish infused with fresh floral and mineral elements.

A native Burgundian, fourth generation wine trader, and former director of operations of a well-known négociant in Beaune, Pierre enjoys friendships with the top vintners and vineyard managers in Burgundy to source the finest grapes for his two labels Pierre Meurgey and Meurgey-Croses. Meurgey-Croses is named in honor of Pierre’s mother, Marie-Thérèse Croses. Pierre is omnipresent in the vineyards from pruning to bud- break to harvest, offering his expertise in organic and biodynamic agriculture while working closely with vineyard managers to oversee the plots that will become his signature Mâconnais wines. Pierre believes that the Mâconnais and its individually unique regions will be home to an entirely new and soulful renaissance of White Burgundy production.
