Mugen Spirits Yokai “Oni” Small Batch Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a highly sought-after, limited-edition release that blends traditional Kentucky whiskey craftsmanship with vibrant themes from Japanese mythology. Created by co-founders Kojin Tashiro and Justin Delaney, this expression stands out as the brand’s first small-batch, barrel-proof offering within their acclaimed Yokai lineup.

• Aroma: A rich, complex nose presenting an apple brandy characteristic. Aromas evoke freshly baked apple pie, warm pastry dough, deep caramel, and a delicate cinnamon glaze.
• Palate: A dense, silky, and highly viscous mouthfeel that coats the palate like fresh honey. It leans heavily fruit-forward with vibrant top notes of green apple, bright raspberry, cranberry, and blueberry before sinking into deeper layers of milk chocolate and freshly pulled espresso.
• Finish: A long, warm finish accented by punchy baking spices like clove, ginger, and cardamom. Reviewers note that despite sitting at 117 proof, it drinks remarkably smooth, balanced, and soft on the oak character, preserving its bright sweetness.
