In 1882, Michael and Malka Hamilecki first set foot on the land of Zichron Yaakov, after immigrating from Lithuania. Michael was chosen by Baron Rothschild to plant vineyards in the area, and from that day on, the harmony and deep connection between the family and the land and the vineyard began. The family settled in nearby Shefiya, which is now surrounded by extensive vineyards, and began the work of cultivating the land and growing the vineyards. In 1925, the family hosted the poet Haim Nachman Bialik. In gratitude for the warm hospitality, the poet offered them the name “Tishbi” – a resident of Shefiya in the Land of Israel.Today, all family members work at the winery. My wife, Nili, manages the winery shop and the visitors’ center. Golan Benny is the winemaker and VP of the winery. Golan grew up with the winery and the winery grew because of him. When we decided to establish a distillery there, he traveled to Cognac in France, learned the “alembic” distillation method and applied it to making brandy aged in oak barrels. Thanks to the brandy, we won great respect in Israel and abroad and the title of the best brandy in the world at the “IWSC” competition held in London. Oshra, my daughter traveled the world and opened the world market for the winery, founded our cafe and wine shop in the center of Zichron Yaakov and the gourmet product series “Fine Food by OshraTishbi”. My eldest son, Michael, a lawyer by profession, is also involved in growing the family vineyards. The joint effort and dedication of our family create the perfect

The 2024 Tishbi Emerald Riesling is a flamboyant, fruit-forward effort that captures the sun-drenched character of the Judean Hills with unabashed intensity. On the nose, it explodes with a heady bouquet of white peach, honeysuckle, and exotic lychee, underscored by a distinct, spicy floral note inherited from its Muscat lineage.
On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied and refreshingly semi-dry, showing a succulent core of ripe apricot and candied pear. While it leans toward the sweeter side of the spectrum, there is enough zesty citrus acidity here to keep the finish clean and focused. This is a crowd-pleasing, “hedonistic” white that prioritizes pure fruit expression over mineral tension. It’s an accessible, well-crafted Israeli white that should be consumed over the next 1–2 years while its aromatics are at their peak.
